Living With Autism: Week 10

I've decided to do weekly blogs instead of daily. Hopefully this will be easier to keep up with.
Ok so for an update. Carson is doing pretty good. He has finally started speech therapy again after being on the waiting list for awhile. His first appointment was today. We aren't sure about his new therapist. She didn't seem to click with him so we will give it more time and see what happens.
He has been so affectionate and more interactive with us and Madison. He has said HI a few times now which is a HUGE step forward! We are remaining hopeful that more words will follow :)
We have his quarterly progress meeting tomorrow so I will update after that.

Carson had his Halloween fest today at school!!!!  He had so much fun and dressed up as a pirate :)

Carson had a BIG moment yesterday morning. He said HI!!! I was so proud of him and I'm praying there will be many more words to follow!

Keeping up with this blog is getting more difficult everyday. I am going to try really hard!

Today was a great day for Carson! He was happy and did great at school. He requested on his ipad 15 times!!! He is waving again and interacting with his sister more and more!

Carson has started to wave again! We have been working on it for awhile. He used to wave but suddenly stopped. I have been trying really hard to get him to say Hi when he waves. Last night I heard it! I was ecstatic! I know he has the words in there. We just have to try to get them out!

Carson was very hyperactive today but he was in a great mood! He is learning to string beads at school and he is doing great. He is working on some hand strengthening activities and today at school he had to squeeze a glue bottle. He did pretty good. His goals this quarter seem to be more challenging. I hope he masters them all!

Living With Autism: Day 46

The past two days have been challenging. Carson hasn't been wanting to go to school and he has been very clingy. I had to pick him up early yesterday because he wouldn't eat or do any work. He cried all day. As soon as he was home he ate and acted completely fine as long as he was with me. I love that he has become such a mamas boy but I hate that he cries when he is at school. There was a time when I longed for this. He used to show absolutely no affection or preference towards me. It was so sad and hurt me so much. I love that he wants to be with me now. I honestly didn't know if that day would ever come but it finally did. I want him to be happy and I want him to want to go to school again but like everything else this will pass

Carson has 4 homework activities to do each weekend. One of them this weekend is to trace a line with his finger. We are supposed to use hand over hand prompting and say trace. He is doing good with it but definitely needs more practice.

Our newest challenge is Carson's constant eating. He has become fixated with food. He wants to eat constantly and when he eats he shoves food in his mouth. We aren't sure how to tackle this but we are going to bring it up in next week's parenting class

We pulled out Billy's rocking horse for the kids. Carson was so excited! He loves to rock and play with the horses hair.

Living With Autism: Day 41

Carson has had a great day! He has been very affectionate today and very playful. He had a great drop off at school and did his work happily. He was filmed for a commercial at school. The commercial is to advertise Step By Step Academy. We can't wait to see it!

Living With Autism: Day 40

Carson has been having some difficult morning's. He has had a hard time leaving for school and he has had a rough time transitioning. It's very important to keep a constant routine with him. If we go to the store after school instead of straight home he gets upset. His routine hasn't been changed so we aren't sure what's going on. I'm sure this will all pass in a week or so.

Carson amazes us so much! He was interacting with us so much tonight! He has come so far!
